For the past three years, we have run an annual holiday gift campaign that provides children up to sixteen (16) years of age, living in Prince Edward County and the Bay of Quinte regions with gifts of toys, games, art supplies, books and clothes.
In 2019, our campaign provided gifts to 108 local children. Support is raised through donations, fundraising events, and sponsorship. Last winter, we held a Toy Drive and Chrismukkah event at Beacon Bike + Brew, received book donations from County Kids Read, Advent Calendars from the Sophiasburgh Recreation Committee, and shirts from Gold & Ginger.
With the unprecedented struggles families are facing in 2020, it is more important than ever to help every child have a holiday that is merry and bright. This year Raising A Village – Quinte is collaborating with other local holiday gift campaigns to ensure that every child receives holiday gifts and will hold a toy drive at The Vic Drive In.
The cost to sponsor a child is between $75.00-$100.00. With this donation, our members purchase or include donated items which include a minimum of either a toy, game or art supplies, a book, and new clothing. These items are purchased locally within the community. This year, in addition to our regular campaign, each child will receive a handmade knit hat or scarf made by County resident Brandi-Jo Pound, craft items donated by County Chic, and a handmade wallet made by RAV-Q. We ensure that donations and sponsorships are matched with children in their local community.
